As I write this it is less than 24 hours since steps toward Marriage equality have been set in legal motion.

The bill has passed and has been signed and in about a month same sex marriages will begin in New York State.

Many people have worked hard and tirelessly to bring this to be. Their support and faith in our community is appreciated and acknowledged.

I hope that we as a community are true to the faith that you have shown in us.

This victory in New York State is just one of many to come to ensure that all citizens have full equality not just on the state but on the FEDERAL level as well.

Keep making those phone calls, write those letters thanking those who have supported us. Write letters to those in power who tell us that their view on Marriage equality is "evolving". Help them evolve toward a view of full equality.

Tell your story. Be Visible. Keep up the good fight.

I FOUND MY SHOULDERS!

I had a breakthrough today at the gym! During my personal workout session with trainer Greg Mills (www.gregmillsnyc.com) after six weeks of putting me through it -- I finally saw my shoulders! Physical fitness is something that I've been doing since I was a teenager. I grew up a really skinny kid and it often embarrassed me to have my skinny arms exposed -- I grew up in South Florida and would wear sweaters year round to keep them hidden. My perception of myself began to change once I started weight training; I started to pack on the pounds, but now that I'm no longer that skinny kid I've been relying on Greg and Steel Gym (www.steelgym.com) the only real gym in New York City, to now reform and sculpt my physique -- and although I'm doing it mostly for myself...come on -- I'm vain! I want to look good for anyone out there who may be looking!

Besides quickly becoming a very close friend, I've relied on Greg, the celebrity fitness guru to really take responsibility for the results that I've made over the last several weeks. When we started this journey Greg had promised me -- in 6 weeks you will see all-new results. Greg wasn't kidding -- and my commitment to our partnership has really begun to pay off! I couldn't have done it without the crew at Steel Gym either -- Ken Hunt has truly established one of the only serious weight lifting facilities in NYC. It can be intimidating walking into the gym -- the brute force of it is apparent on every level including the wall of trophies highlighting the gym's winning sportsmanship in champion weight lifting! So you can imagine my thrill today when for the first time in my career in physical fitness I actually saw my shoulders! Yes -- it was very exciting to me and Greg got a real kick out of it. It's very hard for me to see my own results -- I see myself every day -- but from Greg's perception he knows the work we both had to endure to get to this moment...and as far as he's concerned we still have a long way to go!

That can sometimes be a little frustrating...we are after all a culture that expects immediacy and fast results, but as anyone knows if you don't earn it through hard work and dedication, it wasn't worth getting in the first place. I couldn't be happier -- it may seem superficial, but it's really not -- weight training with Greg and feeling my best has improved my confidence and self-awareness. I know what I'm capable off and that I can continue to exceed my own expectations of myself -- because settling is not an option, but it would be next to impossible to do without the right guidance and encouragement and that's what I've come to rely on Greg to provide, the same way that Steel Gym has given us the tools to achieve our results! And with each episode of TALKING ABOUT I'll look forward to sharing those results with you and hopefully they will inspire you to greater physical fitness! Who knows...maybe next session I'll be ready for our swimsuit fashion show extravaganza -- courtesy of Greg Mills!

It's always a trip on the set especially when we're getting a live show together and this month's episode did not disappoint! We had our friend and one of all-time favorite musicians visit us Ariel Aparicio who was on-set to perform some of the new tracks off of his latest EP The Bedroom Tapes...I'll tell you -- there's nothing like getting a mini-concert right in your own "virtual living room"! He was awesome -- and if you saw the live telecast, you'll agree! Also on set we had comedian Danny Leary treat us to the going-ons of his gig at Comix -- it's a variety and if anyone who knows Danny...he's one very talented cut-up! To round out the show we had fitness maestro and Steel Gym personal trainer Greg Mills. He's keeping us in shape and in-line so we don't get fat over the winter.

We also got a call from independent filmmaker Gregor Collins who just had the New York premiere of his film "Night Before the Wedding" and the good news is audiences loved it! Jon and I caught up with Gregor the day after to talk filmmaking and the urgent rise of the new social networking filmmaker -- what will you use Facebook for?

SPORTS FANS!

We were so grateful to Jeff Kagan, from Out of Bounds and his gallant squad of athletes who came over to the studio to join us for a little chat on the exciting opportunities in team sports in and around our great city. It's nice to know that as the summer weather cools and we're welcoming in the autumn breeze we still have enough to keep us busy and active -- not to mention give us a great reason to check out men in uniforms. Mmmm -- athletes!

Team sports is a great way to meet new people with similar interests -- it's an alternative to anxiously awaiting the weekend and meeting the boys for a drink at the local pub. Never mind that it keeps you fit...but yes, I still like the thought of sweaty rough housing on the rugby field. It gets the blood going and is a great reason to cheer your team on.

On The Set of "Talking About"

I was myself never all that sports active, but it's wonderful that we're breaking the stereotype that gay men and women aren't competitive in sports. Here we have an squad of athletes that play against the big boys and girls and on many occasions bring home the gold themselves. That's a great reason to cheer them on! I hope to see you out this upcoming season as an athletic supporter -- it's the least we can do! I hope you enjoy the interview.

Hi There. We hope that those of you who in the USA are enjoying your holiday weekend! (and everyone out of the USA is having a great weekend too!)

We are off enjoying ourselves too, so here are a few of Jonathans favorite episodes of "Talking About:" to hold you over until next weeks new podcast!

The first is a segment hosted by JC Alvarez featuring David Pulli of The American Cancer Society. Also sharing her story is Cancer survivor Jenny Saldana.

Next up is a very, very funny show featuring a hysterical guest, Comedian Jeffrey Johns. Also of note for this show is that Cara Kilduff was serving as guest co-host for this show. We loved having her on the show so much that we asked her to stay on as a regular host and happily, she accepted.

Thank you to all of our guests who participated on our show last night and demonstrated that we truly part of a great community, but as is necessary with all communities -- there is always work to do. Both Democratic Candidate Charlie Ramos and Marriage Equality lobbyist Jeff Friedman were truly inspiring in connecting their messages of public service and why we must all be willing to make ourselves aware of the issues especially within our communities and begin to do something about it. We are all Americans and have a responsibility to participate in the electoral process. Become familiar with your candidates and support the ones most aligned with your own ideology and prepared to walk the walk! Otherwise you have no choice but to settle with what you get!

Thanks again to both Mr. Ramos and Mr. Friedman for taking the steps and I encourage everyone to get familiar with the issues and come out and support your candidate in September's primaries.

Our comedy duo Kelly & Lindsey happily contributed to lightening the mood and kept us laughing and also showed their support for equal rights. I invite you to keep your eyes on these two -- they will be going places! And to our audience -- we so appreciate your support of our broadcast and I encourage you to continue to watch, write to us and especially get involved!
